Race Review: Indian Terrain Grand Delhi Sportive powered by Montra

After an eventful start to the Championships Sportive series in Bengaluru, the second of the series - the Grand Delhi Sportive took place on the 3rd of September in Delhi. The event saw an amazing turnout of over 150 participants, eager and excited to get on their saddles. 

Though a hot day was predicted, the spirit of the participants was undeterred. There was a buzz of excitement as prominent actor and brand ambassador of Indian Terrain, Kunal Kapoor was present to flag off this energetic bunch of cyclists. The event was flagged off from the Lajpat Nagar Track and Trail store and looped around to the Gurgaon - Faridabad highway and back to Lajpat Nagar. 

Participants for this ride came from near and far. One such participant was Indian Para Cyclist, Jagvinder Singh, who came from Patiala to participate in the Grand Delhi Sportive. The race saw the lead riders going at a steady pace of approximately 40 km/hr.

The standings for the 88-km race are as follows:  

Men: 

1st place – Arjun Singh (2h:13m) 

1st runner up – Graham Maltby (2h:13m) 

2nd runner up – Riyazuddin Alam (2h:14m) 

With such close timings, the winner and 1st runner up were separated by a few milliseconds!  

Women 

1st place – Lakshmi Thangadurai (3h:7m) 

Conclusion

Hearty congratulations to the winners, it’s time to get ready for the Grand Finale in Delhi. And, a huge shout out of appreciation to all the participants and finishers of the 50km ride and 88km race. The Indian Terrain Championships Sportive is off to a great start – 2 down, 6 to go. Hyderabad, it’s time to get your helmets and cleats on, the Championships Sportive is on its way to you!
