Merida is a Taiwanese company that designs and manufacture bicycles. The name Merida derives roughly from the translation of its three syllables ma-ri-da, which mirror the company's goal to enable the customer to reach their destination.
Founded in 1972 by Ike Tseng, Merida was as an OE manufacturer for numerous other brands, the company established its own brand, Merida, in 1988.
Merida don’t just make bikes, they create companions that enable everyone to enjoy awesome rides continuously. That’s why their bikes offer what they call that little ‘more’: the feeling of riding the right bike, rather than just ‘any’ bike.
Merida’s enthusiastic R&D team lives, breathes and ride bikes - all day. Creating a bike is very much a team effort, where a long list of individuals contributes their specific skill sets to ultimately bring it all together at the end. From conceptual planning via first ride prototypes and testing, integration of colour and graphics into the overall project, refining the pre-production models to the final bike that makes its way to you.
Merida have a World Tour Team called Team Bahrain Victorious with top riders who have won multiple stages at Grand Tour Events like the Tour de France.
