In June this year, the US Anti Doping Agency charged Lance Armstrong with using banned substances including blood booster EPOs and steroids.åÊThe Bank of America Chicago Marathon is sanctioned by the USA Track and Field and since the federation follows the World Anti Doping Association rules, it would cause Armstrong to be banned from participating.åÊ
"USATF is a signatory to the WADA code, and we confirmed with the US Anti-Doping Agency that Mr Armstrong's ban extends to track and field, road running and all of our sport's disciplines." said USATF spokeswoman Jill Geer.
In June, Armstrong was barred from Ironman France due to similar reasons after the USADA's charges.
