Spin Doctor is a bicycle tools and accessories manufacturer. They make performance-focused products, which will enhance your cycling experience. We got the opportunity to test out their Rescue mini HV Pump and here is what we thought.
The Spin Doctor Rescue HV Mini Pump is designed for road bicycle tires that have a high-pressure index purely because of the fact that it can pump up to a maximum 80 PSI limit, and is also compatible with both Presta and Schrader valves. A telescoping hose, which pulls directly out of the pump body, provides quick and easy access to both valve types. A mounting bracket to attach the pump to the bicycle frame and a rubber strap to secure it in place are also provided. The pump has a durable CNC alloy body and handle.
The large barrel design of the Rescue HV Mini Pump supplies a higher volume of air with fewer strokes than most conventional mini pumps. The pump features a Hi-Q Self-Adjusting head attached to the flexible rubber hose that fits both Presta and Schrader valves and has a screw-on mechanism that ensures that the pump is securely fixed to the valve before starting to pump. A lightweight and strong CNC machined aluminum construction makes the pump look and feel strong and sleek. The rubber stopper ring on the tube helps avoid abrasion while pumping. The pump builds up a bit of heat while pumping beyond 50 PSI and being a metal body, the heat is immediately felt on the palms. But as far as my experience goes, the heating issue has always been a common occurrence with all hand pumps. The pump can be attached to the bicycle frame using a mounting bracket that is supplied with it. The mounting bracket is made of hard, durable plastic and has a rubber strap to hold down the pump in place and avoid it from popping out when riding over bumps or uneven roads. The one thing that this pump lacks is a pressure gauge, so the rider has to pump by feel and won’t be able to get an exact reading of the tire pressure.
Overall Rating
A very handy and useful tool for all cyclists, especially those doing longer, unsupported rides, the Spin Doctor Rescue HV Mini Pump is light and sleek enough to be carried on the bicycle without weighing it down, and at the same time is also very powerful. The only unjustified aspect of this product is its Rs.2,990 price tag. It does seem a tad bit overpriced for something as simple as a hand pump, but then again, all high performance products always come with a hefty price tag.
