The frame is designed to be built taller from the ground up, giving larger ground clearance.
The suspension lock-out was easy to use and was useful in riding faster on flatter patches.
The Shimano Altus/Acera Shadow 27-Speed combination of gears works smoothly.
During the test ride, the brakes were powerful and felt balanced to use on both wet and dry conditions.
The Deli Trax 27.5” MTB tires had bulky treads which were evenly spread out.
Polygon is an International brand of bicycles known for high quality components at an affordable price. The Premier series is Polygon’s range of performance MTB’s and we got the opportunity to test ride the Premier Five 27.5’’ (2019) and here is what we thought.
Weight - 17.6 kgs
Usage - Fitness/Leisure
The Premier 5 27.5” (2019) is built around an AluTech hardtail Alloy frame. The frame is strong but not too heavy for a MTB, which ensures that it can handle a lot of hard hitting from the surface. The frame is designed to be built taller from the ground up, giving larger ground clearance.
The Suntour XCM HLO suspension fork was smooth in functioning during the test ride with a massive 120mm travel making sure that most of the vibrations of the surface are absorbed. The suspension lock-out was easy to use and was useful in riding faster on flatter patches.
The Premier Five 27.5” (2019) which I test rode came in a Matte Black primary colour with Orange as the secondary colour. The sleek chain and seat stays looks elegant on the frame. The graphics were simple yet bright with a colour coded fork, saddle and rims. The lengthy handlebar and heavily treaded tires gave this bicycle the perfect rugged MTB looks.
Shimano’s Altus at the front and Acera at the rear form the drivetrain on the Polygon Premier 5 27.5” (2019). These gearing components from Shimano were mid-level MTB components and were smooth and quick in transmission during the test ride. The Acera derailleurs on this bicycle are the latest Shadow M3000 version and are an improvement from the 2018 Premier 5. The 27-Speed gear range was enough for steep climbs and quick accelerations.
The Tektro HD-M275 Hydraulic Disc brakes on this bicycle were as powerful brakes as it can get on a mid-level hardtail MTB. During the test ride, the brakes were powerful and felt balanced to use on both wet and dry conditions.
The 760mm Entity branded handlebar was lengthy and not the most comfortable if you are looking to commute with it. But they are perfectly suited for trail races on single tracks with drops and inclines.
This hardtail MTB rolls on a pair of Deli Trax 27.5” x 2.25” tires. These tires are heavily treaded with bulky treads which cover the tires evenly and rolls fast on flatter surfaces. The Entity MTB Saddle is perfectly designed and is ergonomic to make sure the rider is safe and sore free on a bumpy ride.
