Pedaleze is an Indian Bicycle brand launched a few years back and they specialize in performance focused Electric Bicycles with unique mid-drive motors on all their models. We got the opportunity to test ride the Pedaleze H2 Electric Bicycle and here is what we thought.
Weight: 19.5kgs (Including battery)
The Pedaleze H2 is an Electric Bicycle which is built on a full 6061 Aluminium Alloy frame. The frame is sleek yet strong enough to handle rough surfaces at high speeds. The strongly built tubes and neatly welded joints help in absorbing vibrations of the surface. The slightly slanting top tube does make the riding posture comfort focused.
The H2 which I test rode came in a full Grey frame with White and Black as the secondary colours for graphics and text. The matte finish paint job was smooth and premium in quality. The shape of the battery is compact and rounded and blends with the bottom tube design. The LED lights at the front and rear as safety features made the E-Bicycle look aesthetic as well.
This Electric Hybrid bicycle is equipped with a simple 1x7-Speed drivetrain. This means there is no front derailleur and the rear has a 7-Speed derailleur. Gears generally help in increasing or decreasing the pressure in pedalling. This 7-Speed gears helps in 2 things; for exercise purposes and also to pedal easily if in case the battery power runs out during a ride. The Skilful trigger shifters were minimalistic and were easy to shift with easy to see gear indicators.
The Pedaleze H2 is equipped with an 8.7Ah Lithium-ion battery which powers a Pedaleze branded mid-drive hub motor. This battery is installed on the top tube of the frame and is detachable. This battery can be easily removed and installed using a simple lock and key system. The 4 level pedal assist modes helps in controlling the power generated from the battery per each pedal. The LED coloured display on the handlebar has the assist levels, speed, distance and battery level indicators.
With 1 full charge this battery is capable of giving 60-65Kms in ideal conditions. The mid-drive motor helps in better power transformation on to the E-Cycle for every pedal and this can be easily be felt with each pedal. Getting up to 25km/hr is very easy and seamless thanks to the efficiency of the mid-drive motor. These mileages will differ a bit with varied riding conditions and rider weight. This battery takes 4 hours to charge from 0 to 100% with any normal Indian plug point. The left side has the controller switches for switching on/off the battery, increase/decrease the pedal assist and also to switch on the LED light.
The H2’s stopping power is handled by a pair of Zoom Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These disc brakes are top notch in quality and were powerful and quick in getting the Electric Bicycle to a halt during the test ride at 25km/hr. The brake levers also have an auto cut-off switch which ensures the battery power is cut-off every time, when either of the brakes are applied. This is a useful safety feature.
The Alloy riser handlebar on this Electric Bicycle was of the perfect length which enabled an open chested riding posture and also easy manoeuvring in traffic. The grips are cushioned for added comfort.
The Pedaleze H2 rolls on a pair of 27.5” x 1.95” Ralson Hybrid tires. These tires are slick and fast rolling for easy acceleration and fast riding in the city. These double-wall alloy rims are strong enough to handle rough roads. The stock saddle from Pedaleze was aesthetically designed for long and soreness free rides with ample cushioning.
This Alloy frame is comfortable to ride and has an aesthetic design for the frame and battery. The 8.7Ah battery with a mid-drive motor is powerful with quick acceleration using an efficient electrical power transfer using the pedal assist modes. The Zoom mechanical disc brakes were powerful to bring this E-Bicycle to a halt quickly at 20-25km/hr. Priced at Rs.86,499 (as on 10th January 2021) the Pedaleze H2 is an Electric Hybrid useful for commutes, fitness and leisure rides.
