NiteRider is an American brand headquartered in San Diego, California that is dedicated to designing high quality performance lights for extreme sports that are waterproof, very bright, lightweight and hands free. We got an opportunity to review NiteRider’s CherryBomb 35 Taillight from their “Be Seen” collection, and here’s what we think.
The key to survival during night riding is to ensure that you are being seen, as well and be-ing able to see. NiteRider’s CherryBomb 35, is equipped with its trademark DVF (Daylight Visi-ble Flash) technology that enables the light to be spotted even in daytime, addresses the “be-ing seen” part strongly. With a 35 Lumen output and a runtime of up to 100+ hours, the Cher-ryBomb 35 can be termed the workhorse of all rear lights in its category.
The CherryBomb 35, aptly named so, has a multi-directional collimator lens that disperses a bright red light emitted by its 3 LEDs into the sides as well as the rear of the rider for en-hanced visibility, effectively eliminating all blind spots for motor vehicles on the road. There is also a built-in reflector that enables the rider to be spotted even when the light is off, thereby improving rider safety.
The CherryBomb 35 features a IP64 water and dust-resistant outer casing that is seen on all NiteRider lights, and runs on the power of two replaceable Alkaline AAA batteries that come included in the pack. The light features two flashing modes (high and low) and two steady modes (high and low) and has a runtime of a mammoth 100 hours. The CherryBomb 35, alt-hough small in size, can be spotted from almost up to a mile away (1.6 km), which makes it ideal for highway commutes.
The mounting mechanism of the light, although not as innovative as many newer lights, has a very functional design. It comes with a rubber strap that has a slot into which the clip of the light can be inserted, while mounting on the seat post. Without the mounting strap, the Cher-ryBomb 35 doubles up as a wearable safety light that can be clipped onto bags, belt loops, straps etc. The tiny rubber button placed on the top part of the light controls the ON/OFF op-eration and mode switching.
Overall Rating
The NiteRider CherryBomb 35 Taillight is an ideal buy for the recreational riders and urban commuters looking for wallet-friendly safety light. Priced at Rs. 949 (as on 25th June 2019), they provide excellent value for money, and the only other expense you might incur is the monthly battery replacement.
