Ninety One’s parent company Alpha Vector are driven by their goal of reconnecting you with the outdoors through a wide range of Bicycles that appeal to your lifestyle and fitness aspirations. We got the opportunity to test ride the Ninety One Trooper 700C Hybrid and here is what we thought.
Weight: 16.5 kgs
The Ninety One Trooper 700C is built on a lightweight Alloy frame with thin tubes and neatly welded edges. The conventional geometry was comfortable to ride with a slanting top tube. The frame was responsive and definitely helped ride fast and contributed to easy climbing on flyovers and other road inclines. The Zoom front suspension fork is smooth in working and also comes with a useful lock-out feature.
The Trooper 700C which I test rode came in a full Black frame with Grey and Green as the secondary colours for the text and graphics. The matte finish paint job along with the contrasting Black/Green colours made the Bicycle look simple yet elegant. The adjustable Quill stem, quick release on the front wheel and colour coded saddle immensely enhanced the aesthetics of this Bicycle.
The Ninety One Trooper 700C is equipped with Shimano’s Tourney at the front and rear as derailleurs. This is an entry-level Hybrid Bicycle groupset from Shimano and they shifted smoothly during the test ride with no evident lags, which makes it ideal for fast and longer rides. The Shimano EZFire 21-Speed derailleurs were smooth to operate.
This Hybrid Bicycle’s stopping power is handled by a pair of JAK Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced on dry and wet roads. Both interval braking and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride.
The Alloy handlebar on this Bicycle was both comfortable and wide enough to give the rider an open chested riding posture. The handlebar angle can be adjusted thanks to the adjustable Quill type stem.
The Trooper rolls on a pair of 700x35C DSI branded tires. These tires are fast rolling on urban roads and the tread pattern was ideal to get good traction on rough roads. The stock 91 Saddle was wide and had a lot of cushioning to make sure the rider is comfortable and soreness free on bumpy rides.
This a Hybrid Bicycle built on a lightweight Alloy frame which is comfortable to ride, the front suspension fork was smooth in functioning and the lock-out feature was useful on flat roads. The JAK Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and balanced on both dry and wet roads. Priced at Rs.23,999(as on 25th March 2021) the Ninety One Trooper 700C is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Bicycle for fast commutes and long rides for fitness purposes.
