Things We Like

  • Smooth shifting Shimano Tourney/Acera 21-Speed gears
  • Zoom 80mm suspension with lock-out
  • Heavily treaded 29” x 2.2” DSI MTB tires

Things We Don't Like

  • Handlebar grips could have had more cushioning for increased comfort on bumpy surfaces
Ninety One Direwolf 29T Frame

The Ninety One Direwolf 29T is built around a Hardtail Alloy frame. The Alloy frame has a conventional frame geometry which was comfortable to ride. This frame was capable of taking in vibrations of the surface on rough trails and urban roads. This lightweight Alloy frame made it easier to accelerate and to ride on inclines.

This Hardtail MTB comes with a Zoom front suspension fork with an impressive 80mm travel. This travel was smooth in working during the test ride and the Mechanical Suspension lock-out feature was helpful in making the fork rigid for a smoother riding experience on flat surfaces

Ninety One Direwolf 29T Design

The Direwolf 29T from Ninety One which we test rode came with Grey as the primary colour with Red as the secondary colour for the graphics and text. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality. The Red saddle with a bold ‘91’ logo is definitely eye catching. The colour coded Saddle and suspension fork enhanced the aesthetics of this Bicycle.

Ninety One Direwolf 29T Design The Direwolf 29T comes in only 1 colour variant; Grey and Red graphics
Ninety One Direwolf 29T Gearing

The Ninety Direwolf 29T comes equipped with Shimano Tourney 3-Speed at the front and Shimano Acera 7-Speed at the rear as derailleurs. These are mid/entry-level gearing components in Shimano’s MTB hierarchy and they performed to their limits during the test ride. On rough urban roads and trails, these derailleurs were ideal for quick and smooth gear changes. The EasyFire 21-Speed Shimano trigger shifters were easy to use and in easy reach from the handlebar grips.

Ninety One Direwolf 29T Gearing The Shimano Tourney/Acera 21-Speed derailleurs were sufficient for quick and smooth gear shifts
Ninety One Direwolf 29T Brakes and Steering

This MTBs stopping power is handled by a pair of JAK Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced on rough and smooth roads. Both interval and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride.

The Alloy handlebar on the Direwolf 29T was both comfortable and wide enough with a raise from the middle to give the rider an open chested riding posture.

Ninety One Direwolf 29T Brakes and Steering The JAK Mechanical Disc brakes were safe and balanced to use on rough and wet surfaces
Ninety One Direwolf 29T Wheels and Saddle

The 29” x 2.2” DSI branded MTB tires on the Ninety One Direwolf 29T were heavily treaded to generate a lot of traction on rough surfaces. The 29” circumference made it easy to ride over rough trails and potholes on urban roads.

The stock saddle was wide and had enough cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on bumpy rides.

Ninety One Direwolf 29T Wheels and Saddle The 29” x 2.2” DSI branded MTB tires were heavily treaded with strong double walled Alloy rims

This Hardtail MTB is built on a lightweight Alloy frame with a comfortable riding posture. The Zoom 80mm front suspension fork absorbs vibrations of the surface and the suspension lock-out helps ride faster on flat surfaces. The JAK Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and quick. The Red Saddle, matte finish paint job and graphics were all aesthetic. Priced at Rs.32,940(as on 29th July 2023), the Ninety One Direwolf 29T is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Bicycle for trail rides and rough urban roads.
