Montra is an Indian Performance Bicycle brand with all types of Bicycles for all kinds of riders. The 2022 range of Bicycles from Montra have launched in India with a large fleet of MTBs and Hybrid Bicycles. We got the opportunity to test ride the Montra Madrock 27.5 (2022) and here is what we thought.
The Montra Madrock 27.5 (2022) is built on a full Alloy frame with a slightly slanting top tube. The bottom and top tube are joined at the head tube which makes for a strong front half which is capable of absorbing vibrations of the surface. The ride geometry is comfortable with no strain on the back and shoulders.
The front suspension fork comes with a minimal 60mm travel, this travel was sufficient for bumpy urban roads and flat and slightly rough trails.
This Hardtail MTB which I test rode came in a full Charcoal Black primary colour on the frame with Neon Yellow graphics. The matte paint job is of good quality with a smooth finish. The graphics are simple and elegant with minimal work. The slanting top tube, colour coded rims and saddle made this Bicycle aesthetic.
The Madrock 27.5 (2022) comes equipped with Shimano Tourney derailleurs at the front and rear. During the test ride these derailleurs were smooth in shifting and had enough range for short commutes and leisure trail rides. The 3x7-Speed Shimano Tourney shifters were basic with gear indicators and an easy spring action.
The Logan Mechanical Disc brakes handle the stopping power on the Montra Madrock 27.5 (2022). These are reliable Mechanical Disc brakes which are more than sufficient to keep the Bicycle in control on flat and slippery trails. Both jamming of the brakes and interval braking felt safe even at high speeds.
The XMR Alloy handlebar on this Hardtail MTB is perfect in length with a slight raise. This width enables safe control of the Bicycle when riding fast on flat trails and amidst traffic on urban roads.
This Hardtail MTB rolls on a pair of 27.5” x 2.35” Maxxis tires. These tires are heavily treaded and made sure the Bicycle could roll on wet and muddy surfaces safely. The Double Wall Alloy rims made the wheelset strong. The extra 2.35” width on these tires increased the capability of this MTB to ride on the roughest of surfaces.
The XMR Trail MTB saddle was perfect in length and had enough padding to keep the rider comfortable on bumpy rides.
This Hardtail MTB is built on a full Alloy frame and has a comfortable frame geometry. The Logan Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and balanced to use. The Maxxis 27.5” MTB tires were heavily treaded and rolls fast as well. Priced at Rs.23,630(as on 28th July 2022) the Montra Madrock 27.5 (2022) is an ideal choice for anyone looking for a Hardtail MTB for riding on both rough urban roads and moderate trails.
