The Lectro Glide - Mens is built on a full Alloy frame. Electric bicycles are generally heavy because of their battery and motor but having an alloy frame makes sure the overall weight is in check. Weighing 19 kgs, this weight does help in keeping the E-bicycle balanced at maximum speeds and turns. The riding posture was comfortable with no stress to the elbows, back, neck and shoulder. The visibly slanting top tube makes sure that getting on and off the bicycle is easy and the extra standover clearance is safer for the rider when coming to a complete halt. The Alloy fork on this bicycle is rigid and bladed. While some might ask why there isn’t suspension fork for bumpy roads, this Alloy frame does help in absorbing some amount of vibration of the surface.

The Lectro Glide - Mens which I test rode came in a Cyan Blue primary colour on the frame with Black as the secondary colour for graphics. The slanting top tube has a slight deviation and then a sharp slope down which makes the bicycle look sporty. The rectangular shaped bottom tube which holds the lithium-ion battery looks solid and sturdy. The colour coded handlebar and forks enhance the aesthetics of this bicycle.

This electric bicycle is equipped with a simple 1x7-Speed drivetrain. This means there is no front derailleur and the rear has a 7-Speed Tourney derailleur. Gears generally help in increasing or decreasing the pressure in pedalling and in an electric bicycle such as this the 7-Speed gears help in 2 things; for exercise purposes and also to pedal easily if in case the battery power runs out during a ride. The Shimano ST-EF500 shifter was basic and easy to shift with clear gear indicator.

The Glide - Mens Electric Bicycle is powered by a 36 Volt 5.8Ah lithium-ion battery. This battery supplies power to the Shungfung motor placed at the rear hub which makes the bicycle run. There are 2 types of electric ride modes for this bicycle. First one is the 3 level pedal assist modes with low, medium and high. Each mode approximately gives 25%, 50% and 75% battery assist respectively, which means for one pedal the battery will assist with a specific amount of battery power to help the rider pedal with ease. The second riding mode is the accelerator throttle on the right side handlebar grip, same as seen on scooters and motorbikes. This throttle can independently make the bicycle run on battery power without the need for pedalling.

In 1 full charge this battery is capable of giving 20 - 25 kilometers in pedal assist mode and 17 - 20 kms in throttle mode. These mileages will differ with varied riding conditions and rider weight. This battery takes 4 hours to charge from 0 to 100% in any normal Indian plug point with a 440W power supply. The charging point for the battery is on the left side of the frame just above the bottom bracket. The small downside to this charging method is that the bicycle has to be near a charging point as the battery is not detachable.

This E-bicycle’s stopping power is handled by Sypo branded Mechanical Disc brake at the front and the Sprandum branded V-brake at the rear. Even though the type of brakes are different, during the test ride they were equally powerful and made the bicycle stop quickly.

The 630mm handlebar on this bicycle was of the perfect length to give a comfortable riding posture for the rider. The grip throttle on the right was smooth and easy to use to accelerate.

This Lectro Electric Bicycle rolls on a pair of 26” x 1.9” tires. These stock tires from Lectro were perfect in dimension which made them roll fast on city roads and the treading helped roll over bumpy surfaces easily. The stock saddle wasn’t the most ergonomic in shape but was wide enough with ample amount of cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on rough roads and long rides.
