Hero Cycles is one of the Country’s top bicycle brands with a long legacy of bring the front runners in bicycle manufacturing in India. The Sprint Pro series are a line of Urban MTBs with strong frames and flashy designs for teenagers and adults. We got the opportunity to test ride the Hero Sprint Pro Dragonfly and here is what we thought.

A good looking hardtail MTB with a lightweight alloy frame and smooth shifting 21-speed Shimano gears.
The Dragonfly 26 is built on a strong and lightweight Alloy frame with a simple geometry for a comfortable riding posture. The slanting top tube ensures safe standover clearance. The frame is responsive and can handle a lot of hard hitting from the surface on urban roads and flat trails.
The threadless Suspension fork on this Hardtail Urban MTB had a working suspension of 80mm against the claimed 100mm, which was more than sufficient to make your ride comfortable when riding over rough surfaces. The suspension lockout feature helped make the fork rigid and hence enabling easier acceleration on flatter surfaces.

The bicycle which I test rode came in a Blue frame colour with Green and White as the secondary colours for the text and graphics. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality and made the colours standout. The colour-coded cables, saddle, rims and handlebar all enhanced the overall aesthetics of the bicycle.

The Dragonfly 26 comes with a 21-Speed Shimano drivetrain. This hardtail MTB is equipped with Shimano Tourney TY500 in the front and rear as derailleurs. Tourney is the basic version of gears but they managed to shift smoothly without any lag. The Shimano EF500 EasyFire 21-Speed shifters felt easy to use with a quick and responsive spring action.

The ‘Repute’ branded Mechanical Disc brakes were good additions to a 26T MTB. These brakes performed well during the test ride on rough roads and flat trails, making it safe for both dry and wet surfaces.
The Steel 660mm handlebar was comfortable and lengthy to provide an ‘open-chested’ riding posture.

The 26” x 2.1” MTB tires along with Double Walled Alloy rims made for a strong set of wheels for this urban MTB. These tires could handle rough surfaces with ease, thanks to the bulky and evenly spread out treads.
The stock comfort PU saddle on the Dragonfly 26 was stylish in design and had enough cushioning to keep the rider soreness free.

This hardtail MTB with a lightweight Alloy frame was comfortable to ride. The Shimano Tourney 21-Speed derailleurs were smooth in shifting during the test ride. The suspension lockout helped in making the fork rigid and thereby able to accelerate faster on flatter surfaces. The well-treaded 26” tires were fast rolling and grippy on rough surfaces. Priced at Rs.16,500(as on 27th Decemeber 2019) the Hero Sprint Pro Dragonfly 26 is an ideal bicycle for riding on flat trails and urban roads.
