Things We Like

  • Hardtail Alloy frame with a comfortable riding posture
  • Aesthetic design with bright colours
  • Heavily treaded 26” tires

Things We Don't Like

  • The handlebar grips could have had more cushioning
Firefox Tornado 26 Frame

The Firefox Tornado 26 is built on an Alloy hardtail frame. This frame is strong and robust which makes this Bicycle ready for some hard-hitting trails and rough urban roads. The frame geometry was a good mix of both aggressive and comfort. The top tube is slanting which gives extra standover clearance for the rider. Being a Hardtail Bicycle, the Tornado 26 comes with a Zoom front suspension fork which functions smoothly for a comfortable ride over rough surfaces. The suspension lock-out was useful for riding faster on flat surfaces.

Firefox Tornado 26 Design

The Tornado 26 which I test rode came in an Orange/Black dual primary colour on the frame with Yellow graphics. The gloss finish paint job was smooth and enhanced the bright colours. The graphics and text font were bold and racy with a fire like theme. The frame tube graphical designs are colour coded and with bold text which makes the bicycle look aesthetic.

Firefox Tornado 26 Gearing

The Tornado 26 comes with entry-level Shimano MTB gearing components with Shimano Tourney 3-Speed at the front and 7-Speed at the rear as derailleurs. These derailleurs even though being entry-level worked well during the test ride. The shifting process was smooth and ideal for trails and urban roads with a bit of incline.

Firefox Tornado 26 Brakes and Steering

The JAK branded Mechanical Disc Brakes on the Tornado 26 had sufficient power and felt balanced while stopping on both urban roads and flat trails. Sudden braking is fast to halt and interval braking is balanced as well. The brake levers were standard and comfortable to use. The 680mm handlebar was wide and gave an open chested riding posture.

Firefox Tornado 26 Wheels and Saddle

The Tornado 26 rolls on a pair of 26” x 2.10” MTB tires. These tires were heavily treaded and provided good traction on both wet and dry trails and roads. The uniform treading made sure that cornering with these tires was safe and the 26” circumference ensured it was easy to accelerate.

The stock saddle was both ergonomic and had the perfect width to keep the rider comfortable and stable on bumpy rides.

This Hardtail MTB is built on an Alloy frame with a slightly slanting top tube which gave a comfortable riding posture. The Zoom suspension fork was useful to make the ride smoother on rough surfaces. The Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and balanced on wet and dry trails/roads. Priced at Rs.21,800 (as on 26th September 2020) the Firefox Tornado 26 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an MTB for rough trails and urban roads.
