Firefox’s range of full suspension city bicycles for teenagers has always been built with strength and vibrant colours. These bicycles with their constant development have made sure that they can be used by adults as well for short city commutes. We got the opportunity to test ride the Firefox Dart Pro 7s and here is what we thought.
Weight: 18.8 kgs
The Firefox Dart Pro D 21S is built on a full Steel frame with dual suspension. This frame is strong and can take in a lot of hard hitting from the riding surface. The frame geometry is simple and felt very comfortable on the shoulder and elbows. The bicycle does feel heavy at 18.8 kgs, which was evident during climbs.
This bicycle comes with a front and rear suspension. The front Zoom suspension comes with a 50mm travel which was sufficient for speed breakers and potholes on city roads. The rear suspension isn’t the most effective and needs a lot of pressure or a bigger bump to feel it working.
This bicycle which I test rode came in a full Black primary colour with Neon Green as the secondary colour. Both these colours were contrasting and blended well on the frame. The matte finish paint job was of superior quality and like its 6-Speed variant this is also easily one of the best looking full suspension urban teenage bicycles. The stylish full suspension frame design and matching fork graphics does look aesthetic.
As in the name of this bicycle, there is a 21 Speed drivetrain equipped on the Dart Pro D. This 3 x 7 Speed drivetrain comes with a Shimano Tourney at the front and rear as derailleur. Even though these derailleurs are entry-level they were smooth in shifting and sufficient for short city rides. The Dart Pro D 21S comes with an impressive M310 Shimano trigger shifters which were sleek and perfect in operation.
The Dart Pro D 21S comes equipped with JAK branded Mechanical Disc brakes. These Disc brakes were powerful and more than enough for stopping on urban roads.
The 600mm Steel handlebar was compact with a 30mm raise which made sure the riding posture was comfortable.
The Wanda 26” x 2.125” tires on the Dart Pro D 21S were fast rolling on city roads and along with double walled alloy rims made this a good wheelset. The treads aren’t the hardest nor strongest but they are sufficient to make sure they grip on to both rough and smooth roads.
The stock Firefox saddle wasn’t the most ergonomic but had enough cushioning to make sure the rider is comfortable even on bumpy roads.
This is an Urban MTB with a strong Steel frame and dual suspension for absorbing minor vibrations of the surface. The 21-Speed Shimano Tourney setup was suited for short urban rides. The JAK branded Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful enough for quick stops on rough roads and fast turns. Priced at Rs.15,800(as on 7th June 2019) the Firefox Dart Pro D 21S is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a bicycle for leisure rides and commutes on rough and smooth urban roads.
