Catlike is a European brand that specializes in manufacturing rider safety equipment like helmets, shoes, and sunglasses. Founded in 1985, Catlike has risen to be one of the top brands with their quality products, many of which have been the choice of multiple Pro Tour teams. We got an opportunity to review the Freeride 360 Urban helmet from Catlike, and here’s what we think.
The Catlike Freeride 360 BMX Helmet comes from Catlike’s range of urban helmets, which makes them ideal for daily use while commuting. The Freeride 360 is a one-size-fits-all helmet, which eliminates the head of choosing the right size, as it is made to be compatible with most head sizes and shapes. With a shape that is not too bicycle oriented, the helmet will also not look awkward when used during skateboarding, BMX biking, or even on motorcycles.
Apart from being quite aesthetic, the helmet is also very functional. With clear cut air vents in the front, top and the back, Catlike has made sure that the wearer gets enough ventilation on all their helmets, and doesn’t let the heat build-up inside, even when using the helmet on a hot day. The nylon adjustable Chin strap gives a snug fit, and is securely fastened with a plastic buckle that locks into place under the wearer’s chin.
Designed to originally be an urban commuting helmet, Catlike has intelligently de-signed the Freeride 360 in such a way that it serves multiple purposes revolving around protecting the wearer’s head, across a wide array of activities. The rounded and com-pact shape of the helmet makes it suitable for fun rides on dirt tracks, bmx, freestyle skateboarding, downhill MTB and even rollerblading.
The unisex design of the helmet keeps it to neutral colours, and it is available in White, Black, Orange, Green and a greenish-brown (almost khaki-like) colours. Weigh-ing at 390 grams, the helmet is not exactly very light, but when designing as an urban helmet, the weight of the helmet is hardly an aspect that is looked into.
Overall Rating
Designed with the aspect of a multi-purpose, everyday-use, the Catlike Freeride 360 BMX Helmet makes sure it ticks all the boxes in these segments. Priced at Rs.3,490, it is not very cost-effective for a helmet of this quality, and from a reputed brand.
