Comfortable Frame Geometry.
The stiff lefty fork built using this technology is ground breaking and reduces the bicycle weight drastically whilst having no compromise on balance and stiffness.
The complete Shimano Altus 27-Speed drivetrain was ideal for urban commuting.
The Promax Mechanical Disc brakes with the wide handlebars makes this bicycle comfortable to steer and stop in traffic.
The 650B tires are fast rolling and can keep you balanced on all dry and wet roads.
Cannondale’s hybrid range is vast with the Quick series of bicycles. The flagship bicycle in this hybrid bicycle is the Bad Boy. This model has been existent for a few years now and has slowly evolved every year. We got the opportunity to test ride the Cannondale Bad Boy 4 (2018) and here us what we thought.
The Cannondale Bad Boy 4 sits at the top of the brand’s hybrid range, with a Smartform C2 alloy aluminium frame and a rigid innovative left fork. Featuring the brand’s signature One Piece Integration process and a build, which puts an emphasis on System Integration, this bicycle connects various components into one flawlessly functioning unit that feels incredibly nimble, even in tight corners. The stiff lefty fork built using this technology is ground breaking and reduces the bicycle weight drastically whilst having no compromise on balance and stiffness.
This flagship Lefty Bad Boy 4 from Cannondale has always followed the stealth black colour scheme and same is the case with the 2018 version. The bicycle which I test rode came in a full black colour. This head turner features clean lines, a modern aesthetic and timeless black tones. The standout element is the gorgeous lefty fork that will surely make fellow commuters drool.
Shimano take care of the gear system on this lefty hybrid with an Altus/Altus combination at the front and rear as derailleurs. These are the Mid-level of Shimano’s range and the shifting was smooth and perfect for urban commuting. This 27-Speed Altus drivetrain means that it can sometimes take quite a bit of clicking through gears to find a comfortable cadence, especially on longer rides.
Cannondale have equipped this Bad boy 4 (2018) with ProMax Mechanical Disc brakes. As opposed to rim brakes, disc brakes are easier to maintain from road dirt and grime, keeping them cleaner and maintaining their power. You will have powerful braking power at your fingertips to stop you in time for red lights or slow you down in heavy traffic.
Inspired by MTB’s, the Bad Boy Alloy 680mm handlebar is flat and wide, providing more stability while riding through city streets. Paired with a short stem this handlebar gives you fast and confident steering control while lock on grips keep your hands in place.
The Bad Boy 4 rolls on a pair of 650B tires which keeps you rolling fast and easily over bumps. The Schwalbe Kojak tires will give you grip in both wet and dry conditions. Cornering at fast speeds will keep you balanced and safe.
The Fabric Scoop Sport saddle on this bicycle is ergonomically designed and comfortable on longer rides. The overall ride quality is fast and comfortable on urban roads.
