Camp is an International Bicycle brand with a wide range of MTB’s, folding and Road Bicycles. This brand forayed into the Indian market with a wide range of products. Camp Bicycles are well received among customers from more than 20 countries and regions, such as the USA, Russia, Brazil and so on. Camp’s brand motto is devoted towards professionalism and innovation. We got the opportunity to test ride the Camp Impala X and here is what we thought.
The Camp Impala X is built on a lightweight full Alloy frame. The geometry is aggressive and this is needed for fast and compact rides. This frame has a tapered head tube, smoothly welded frame and an integrated seat post clamp. The aero dynamic tube profiles make sure the trailing edges aid in the smooth reintegration of air. The aero flattened Carbon fork was bladed and helped with keeping the front of the Bicycle light in weight.
Camp Bicycles are all designed aesthetically with sharp and unique graphics. The Bicycle we test rode came in a Grey matte finish frame with Black and as the secondary colour for the graphics and text. The flat aero tube profiles along with the bladed Carbon fork and an integrated seat tube clamp immensely enhanced the aesthetics of this Road Cycle.
The Camp Impala X is equipped with a complete Shimano 105 road Drivetrain. 105 is Shimano’s entry into full performance drivetrains. It sits beneath Dura-Ace, Ultegra and Di2 in the Shimano Road hierarchy. During the test ride both at the front and rear, the gears shift cleanly, smoothly and quietly. We never missed a gear or felt the shifter being unresponsive when we needed to change gears quickly. The 2x11-Speed integrated Shimano 105 shifters were easy to use with feather light pushes to change the gears.
The stock Mechanical Disc brakes handle the braking power on the Impala X. These brakes were lightweight components and powerful on flat tarmacs and balanced even on wet roads.
The stock Alloy drop handlebar was of the perfect length for optimum control over the Cycle on steep turns and also gives a compact riding posture.
The Maxxis 700x25C slick tires on the Impala X are race specific tires built to be lightweight and reliable. These tires make sure it gives maximum traction on tarmacs. They are well supported by lightweight Alloy rims.
The stock Camp Saddle was not only stylish, but has a level of support and cushioning that suits the rider on faster rides just as much as long distance rides. The integrated seat post clamp was shaped aerodynamically.
This Aero Road Bicycle comes with a full Shimano 105 drivetrain and Disc brakes. The lightweight Alloy frame with a Carbon fork kept the overall weight less at just under 10 Kgs. The design and graphics were aesthetic and the matte finish was smooth and of top notch quality. Priced at Rs.1,14,990(as on 29th April 2023) the Camp Impala X is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Road Racing Bicycle with an aero-dynamic profiling.
