Bianchi C-Sport 1 (2017): ChooseMyBicycle.com Expert Review

The Bianchi C-Sport 1 (2017) is built on an alloy 6061 frame which is double butted. The butting and welding tech used has made sure this frame is light and best suited for zipping on urban roads and long distance rides. The welds on the edges of the tubes are so smooth making them less evident. There are places on the frame where extra material is used to handle the vibration of the surface. The frame geometry is a bit aggressive while not reducing the comfort level which makes this bicycle a joy to ride.

This bicycle comes with a rigid front fork made of alloy. They are shaped neatly and are strong enough to contribute to the stable handling of the bicycle.

Design is one thing which Bianchi never disappoints. The C-Sport 1 comes in a Bianchi special celeste green colour. This single coloured frame has tubes shaped neatly with black graphics to show the branding. The matte finish paint job enhances the looks of the bicycle by a few levels. The metal Bianchi brand badge on the front of the bicycle stand out in this elegant and classy looking hybrid bicycle.

The C-Sport 1 comes equipped with Shimano Tourney at the front and Shimano Acera the rear. Yes these are MTB components which are standard among hybrid bicycles, Tourney/Acera is quite a different combination but the performance of the derailleurs were smooth and there were no lags during the test ride. The gears are controlled by a pair of Shimano Tourney ST-EF51 trigger shifters which were basic and fairly easy to operate. For the price of this bicycle it is fair to expect a slightly higher derailleur component but nevertheless the current ones aren’t disappointing.

Being a hybrid bicycle meant to zip in traffic it is important to have a good braking system. The Bianchi C-Sport 1’s stopping power is taken care of by a pair of Tektro RX1 Mini V brakes. These brakes had alloy arms and rubber pads which made stopping in different speeds both safe and comfortable. Braking performance on both wet and dry conditions were excellent.

The TEC alloy flat handlebars on the C-Sport 1 made the handling of this bicycle on busy roads easy. I was always in control of the bicycle and the extra padded foam grips made sure there was absolutely no soreness on the palms.

The Kenda EuroTrek 700c x 32c tires were the perfect blend for speed and grip. They can handle rough urban roads with some mud easily. Cornering with these tires felt balanced. The strategically placed treads on these tires helped the rider be balanced even on wet conditions. The Tec Sport Edition alloy rims made the whole wheelset lightweight, thereby making the whole bicycle a few grams lesser.

The Selle Royal SIAM saddle had enough padding to keep the rider comfortable on rough roads and longer hours. The overall ride quality of this bicycle was fast and comfortable on urban roads.
