In an attempt to help increase the number of cyclists, a team of Dutch designers went on to pioneer technology to create safer environments for cycling. One of these being Glow in the dark road lines.
This was their solution to the road lights being turned off by the government at nights in order to save energy. This way the cyclists have much better visibility on the roads and don't have to worry about riding into potholes. The road lines comprise of photosensitive crystals that store light and emit it at night.
In addition to the glow in the dark roads, their innovations also include road heating using geo thermal energy.
