MANGALORE TO GOA

Cycling from Mangalore to Goa is sure to be an experience worth every drop of sweat. This route predominantly runs along the western coastline of the country, traversing through some of the most popular beach towns of the western belt. This route is a must-do for those with an inclination towards rolling terrain, and the ocean. Starting at Mangalore, this 382-kilometer route will take you through the coastal towns of Udupi, Gokarna, Karwar and finally, Goa. While cycling through these iconic coastal towns, don’t miss out on trying the local seafood! The sun, the sand and the sea! This sunshine state on the West Coast of India has a lot going on. To truly experience Goa, explore the state on your bicycle! Starting at the Southern most point of Goa - Xandrem, make your way to the Northernmost beach, Ashwem. The most direct route from Xandrem to Ashwem covers a distance of about 115 kilometers. However, exploring the state on the lesser travelled inner roads will take you through quaint beach towns - giving you the true experience of Coastal Goa. Spend a couple of days at serene beaches along the way! The best time to visit would be between mid-October and end February - Early March. However, do remember that Goa tends to get crowded and slightly more expensive (to stay) in December around Christmas and New Years!

MUMBAI TO ALIBAUG

If you are looking for a short weekend trip packed with beauty, adventure and nature, a road trip on your bicycle from Mumbai to Alibaug should do it. Starting at Aamchi Mumbai, this 95 kilometer route traverses through the Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary and the Karnala Bird Sanctuary, ending at Alibaug. Conclusion

When it comes to bicycle touring, I feel that you get to fully experience all that a place has to offer by spending a day or two there and exploring it on your bicycle. If you are crunched on time, you can pick a shorter route and thereby spend less time getting from one place to another. Touring on a bicycle is an experience that will be etched in your memory forever if done right, so remember to plan well, and make the most of your time on the saddle! Happy Riding!
