WaltX Trak 1: ChooseMyBicycle.com Expert Review

The WaltX Trak 1 has been made using a TIG welded Steel frame. Though Steel frames are typically associated with being bulky and heavy, the WaltX Trak 1 is surprisingly lightweight. The TIG frame with smooth welding combined with sleek tubing are factors contributing to the overall reduced weight of this bicycle. The frame geometry ensures a comfortable and relaxed ‘upright’ riding position without compromising on performance. The frame has the provision to attach a water bottle holder to it.

This bicycle is equipped with a threadless Steel rigid fork that is lightweight and easy to maintain. The design of the fork is such that there is only minimal transfer of vibrations to the handlebar and the rider can withstand a range of riding conditions with ease. This bicycle is available in a single sizing option – 18”.

The WaltX Trak 1 has been designed keeping the appeal of simplicity and elegance in mind. Designed with a primary colour of Matte Black with Azure Blue graphics, the bicycle comes off as sleek and elegant with simple branding that is not overwhelming to look at. Additonally, the high quality matte finish enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the bicycle. The bright Azure Blue on a matte Black finish offers a visual ‘Pop’ and makes this bicycle stand out.

The WaltX Trak 1 is a single-speed bicycle. The 44T chain wheel, 18T freewheel and 170mm crankarm ensure smooth pedalling with adequate power for all sorts of urban terrains, including flyovers and underpasses. Though not as popular or mainstream anymore, single-speed bicycles offer unparalleled simplicity and ease of use with the added advantage of hassle-free maintenance.

The WaltX Trak 1 comes equipped with a pair of Power-branded V-Brakes. When on the test ride, I found that the brakes were extremely powerful and responsive. Feathered braking felt comfortable and stable requiring with just a light press of the brake levers to activate. Abrupt stopping was extremely powerful, and completely engaging the brake levers could result in slight instability when bringing the bike to a sudden stop.

A wide 620mm handlebar ensures an ‘open-chested’ riding position that is comfortable. Additionally, the length of the handlebar ensured supreme control of the bicycle and quick handling and maneuvering while in congested riding conditions, such as traffic ridden urban roads. The handlebar could be too long for riders who are short or have shorter arms. The bar grips are slightly hard, but this does not affect the overall performance of the bicycle.

The WaltX Trak 1 rolls on a pair of Wanda 700x35C hybrid tres which are attached to double walled alloy rims. The tires are smooth and mildly treaded – thus ensuring that they are fast rolling with adequate grip for usage on flat surfaces. Cornering is balanced and safe, with the ability to take quick and sharp turns.

The WaltX Trak 1 comes equipped with a PU foam Comfort Saddle, I found that the saddle was slightly long and could do with a little extra cushioning. The seat post has a QR option that enables easy and quick adjustment of the saddle height.
