Veloce started its journey back in 2014 to provide affordable premium bikes for cycling enthusiasts, while maintaining all European ISO standards. Veloce have a wide range of MTB, Hybrid Bicycles with quality specs at a reasonable price point. From their MTB range we got to test ride the Veloce V100 and here is what we thought.
Weight – 14.6kgs
Category – Fitness/Flat Trails
The Veloce V100 comes with an Alloy Hardtail frame. The Alloy frame has a conventional frame geometry which was comfortable to ride. This frame was capable of taking in vibrations of the surface on rough trails and urban roads. This lightweight alloy frame made it easier to accelerate and to ride on inclines.
The V100 from Veloce is a sporty looking MTB with Blue as the primary colour and Black as the secondary colour for graphics. The gloss finish, colour coordinated Rims, Suspension and Saddle makes this Bicycle look attractive.
The Veloce V100 comes with a Shimano Tourney/Altus 3x7-Speed gear system controlled by Shimano EF500 shifters. The shifting was crisp and precise with no evident lag. These are mid/entry-level gearing components in Shimano’s MTB hierarchy and they performed to their limits during the test ride. On rough urban roads and trails, these derailleurs were ideal for quick and smooth gear changes.
The Veloce V100 comes with a pair of Mechanical Disc Brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced on rough and smooth roads. Both interval and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride.
The 700mm handlebar with a slight raise gives the rider an open chested posture which gives the rider good control of the Bicycle. The only downside is that the handlebar grips were a tad hard, so it would be advised to wear Cycling Gloves while riding.
The V100 comes with a pair of 27.5” x 2.10” MTB tires which are attached to Double Wall Alloy Rims. The tires were heavily treaded to generate a lot of traction on rough surfaces. The 27.5” circumference made it easy to ride fast over rough trails and potholes on urban roads.
The stock saddle was ergonomic in design and provided ample cushioning for trail riding, however we would have liked this saddle even more if it was a little wider.
Overall Rating
This hardtail MTB is built on a lightweight Alloy frame with a comfortable riding position. The Suntour XCM front suspension fork absorbs vibrations, the Mechanical Disc brakes were powerful and quick and the Shimano Tourney/Altus 21-Speed gear system were quick. Priced at Rs.28,990(as on 9th December 2021), the Veloce V100 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a Bicycle for trail rides and rough urban roads.
