Rockfire is a new Bicycle brand to enter the Indian market. Rockfire’s vision is to empower you in your pursuit of getting better, by providing bicycles that are designed, engineered and built for high performance. Their line-up of Bicycles includes Hybrids and MTBs and are focused on delivering a Premium Cycling Experience. We got the opportunity to test ride the Rockfire Ridge 27.5 and here is what we thought.
The Rockfire Ridge 27.5 is built on an aggressive and strong Alloy frame. This frame has a slanting top tube which makes the stand over height bigger than most standard hardtail MTBs. This helps the Bicycle climb and roll over harsh trails without the frame taking a hit at the bottom bracket area. The top tube and bottom tube are fused together at the top near the headset; this makes the frame stronger in that area which usually experiences a lot of vibration of the surface when riding on trails.
The Zoom front suspension fork came with a 100mm travel which made sure the bumps on trails were rolled over without any difficulty. The suspension lockout was easy to use and helped with riding faster on flatter surfaces.
The bicycle which we test rode came with Black as the primary colour and Blue and Grey as the secondary colours for the graphics. The wide block shaped decals along with the sharp-edged lines gives a refreshing new look to the frame graphics. The colour coded graphics on the suspension fork, rims and saddle make the Bicycle look uniform in design. The bulky treads on the tires add to the much needed rugged look of this MTB.
The Rockfire Ridge 27.5 is equipped with Shimano Tourney at the front and Shimano Acera at the rear as derailleurs. This mid-level Shimano derailleur combo comes with a 3x8-Speed range. The 24-Speed drivetrain gave that extra bit of speed for the rider and enough range for steep climbs. The Shimano EF500 trigger shifters were easy to operate.
The Rockfire Ridge 27.5 is installed with Logan Mechanical Disc brakes. These brakes are powerful and make this Bicycle capable of handling the wettest and roughest of trails.
The stock handlebar was wide and comfortable to hold on to. The slight raise from the middle of the bar made the riding posture comfortable.
The Rockfire Ridge 27.5 rolls on a pair of Maxxis Pace 27.5” x 2.1” tires. These tires were treaded heavily and are perfectly suited for trails and rough urban roads. High speed turns and jamming of the brakes were transformed well into a balanced reaction on these tires.
The Rockfire stock saddle was shaped ergonomically with the perfect length and width.
This is a Hardtail MTB with a strong yet lightweight Alloy frame. The 24-Speed Shimano Tourney/Acera drivetrain along with the Logan mechanical disc brakes made it fast and safe to ride. The 27.5” x 2.1” Maxxis MTB tires were heavily treaded for tackling the roughest of trails and bad urban roads. Priced at Rs.32,590(as on 19th July 2022), the Rockfire Ridge 27.5 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy an all-rounder MTB for using on both urban roads and rough trails.
