Ridley is one of the world’s leading performance bicycle brand. This brand is in the heart of the cycling world, Belgium. From Road bicycles to MTB’s, Ridley has their presence in all major World Bicycling Championships. This year Ridley launched their new range of bicycles designed and manufactured specifically for the Indian market at a competitive price point. From this Ridley-India 2019 range we got the opportunity to test ride the Ridley Cordis CX 3 and here is what we thought.
Weight: 14 kgs
Usage: Fitness/Commute
The Ridley Cordis CX 3 is built around a CX superlight Aluminium Alloy frame. The frame strength can be felt when riding, thanks to its top and bottom tubes. Even though it is a little heavy while pedalling, it can withstand the hardest of urban roads. The riding posture was comfortable with a slanting top tube.
This Hybrid comes with a Suntour NEX front suspension fork. The 63mm travel is sufficient for bumpy urban roads. The suspension lockout helps in riding smoother and faster on flat roads.
The Cordis CX 3 which I test rode came in a full Black frame with Grey and Blue as the secondary colours for graphics. The matte finish paint job was of great quality which made the bicycle look premium. The disconnected top and bottom tubes made the bicycle look comfortable and taller.
The Cordis CX 3 (2019) is equipped with a Shimano Altus M370 3-Speed front derailleur and Shimano Acera M360 8-Speed rear derailleur. These mid-level derailleurs were perfect for commutes and longer rides including climbs. These derailleurs are operated by a 24-Speed Shimano SL-M310 trigger shifters.
Shimano’s MT200 Hydraulic Disc brakes handle the braking on the Cordis CX 3 (2019). These brakes were powerful and balanced to use on wet and dry roads. These brakes were good for rough surfaces and were responsive.
The Zoom Alloy 660mm handlebar was wide and with a slight raise from the middle which made for a perfect riding posture. The grips on the handlebar didn’t have a palm support and might require gloves for long distance rides.
The 700x38C Kenda Eurotek Hybrid tires gave great rolling assistance on flat tarmacs and had a good tread pattern for safe riding on bad roads. The double walled Alloy rims are capable of taking the weight of the rider plus some luggage in case of touring without affecting its balance and strength.
The Velo Saddle is designed for comfort. It is wide and well cushioned to keep the rider soreness free on the saddle for long hours.
Overall Rating
This hybrid bicycle from Ridley has a strong Alloy frame with a comfortable riding posture. The Shimano Hydraulic Disc brakes were powerful and balanced to use. Priced at Rs.39,999(as on 31st August 2019) the Ridley Cordis CX 3 (2019) is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a bicycle for commuting, fitness and long distance rides.
