Niterider is an American brand headquartered in San Diego, California that is dedicated to designing high quality performance lights for extreme sports that are waterproof, very bright, lightweight and hands free. We got an opportunity to review one of Niterider’s urban commuter lights, the Swift 300, and here’s what we think.
The Niterider Swift 300 is the entry-level front light from Niterider’s Urban commuter and Road series of front lights. It comes in a micro-sized package that gives a smooth 300 lumen beam of light which instantly lights up dark roads and alleys, making sure the rider’s path is clearly visible. The lightweight, compact design enables the light to be mounted easily on any part of the bicycle. One of the best features of the Swift 300 are its 5 different intensity modes, includ-ing 4 steady modes and one Daylight Visible Flash (DVF) mode. Niterider’s unique DVF (Day-light Visible Flash) technology enables the light to be spotted even in bright daylight conditions. Some other notable features of this light are its button lock system, low battery indicator and the Mode Memory.
Coming to the design of the Swift 300, it has a single 300 Lumen LED light and an internal rechargeable battery enclosed together securely in a highly durable outer shell made of fiber-glass and reinforced plastic. The tightly sealed outer shell comes with a FL1 Standard IP64 dust and water-resistant design that makes this one of the best all-weather lights. The ON/OFF operation is controlled by a long press on the soft rubber button placed on top of the light for easy access while riding, and a single click helps toggle between the different modes. A 7 se-cond long press activates/deactivates the button locking system that helps prevent the light from accidentally switching on/off.
The light is powered by a single in-built Li-ion battery that can be recharged via a USB port located on the underbelly of the light. The battery provides enough juice for the light to last anywhere between 2 hours on the brightest mode to almost 12 hours on the lowest setting. The innovative collimator lens helps spread the beam of light evenly, for better visibility, and the rubber strap makes it very easy to mount and unmount the light on handlebars of various di-ameters. This is another reason that we call the Swift 300 the ideal commuter headlight.
