Merida has grown over the years to become one of the top Bicycle brands with its presence in major Bicycle races around the world. We got the opportunity to test ride the Merida Crossway 20D (2021) and here is what we thought.

A fast and comfortable to ride Hybrid Bicycle with impressive specs at a good price point.
The Merida Crossway 20D (2021) comes with a lightweight Crossway Speed 6061 Alloy Frame. This frame is built using the Techno Forming System or TFS, this system helps maintain a low weight while providing good strength. The geometry has the perfect blend of aggressiveness and comfort.
The Suntour NEX HLO front suspension fork comes with a minimal yet smooth 63mm travel. The suspension lockout was easy to use and useful to make the fork rigid for added speed on smooth roads.

The Crossway 20D which I test rode came in a full Moss Green frame with Silver, Green and Black as the secondary colours for graphics and text. The slightly curved top tube along with the thin seat and chain stays made the Bicycle look aero. The gloss finish paint job was of top notch quality and enhanced the colour shade immensely.

The Merida Crossway 20D (2021) comes with Shimano Tourney 3-Speed at the front and Shimano Acera 8-Speed at the rear as derailleurs. These mid-level Shimano hybrid/trekking derailleurs worked smoothly during the test ride on rough urban roads. Both the front and rear derailleurs shifted quickly and without any lag. The 24-Speed drivetrain gave a wide range for efficient climbs and quick acceleration.

This year, Merida have upgraded the brakes to Shimano MT200 Hydraulic Disc brakes. These brakes were powerful and had a fast response time when braking suddenly in traffic and even on fast turns. Hydraulic Disc brakes from Shimano are considered to be one of the best and were top notch in performance and performed up to our expectation on a Hybrid Bicycle at this price.
The Merida CC handlebar was 660mm in length and had a slight raise from the middle to give a comfortable upright riding posture. The adjustable raiser stem is useful in making the rider comfortable or aggressive based on his/her preference.
The Shimano MT200 Hydraulic Disc Brakes are top notch in performance and performed up to our expectation on a Hybrid Bicycle at this price.
The Crossway 20D (2021) comes with Merida K1171 700x40c with Merida stock rims. These tires have an impressive tread pattern to give good traction on urban roads. The wheel set on the whole was lightweight and contributed to keeping the weight of the bicycle in check.
The Merida Cross Sport saddle was ergonomically designed making the sit bones placed on the widest points of the saddle and thus making it comfortable during long rides on bumpy surfaces. The suspension seat post took vibrations of the surface and made the ride smoother on bad roads.
The Merida K1171 700x40c tires have an impressive tread pattern to give good traction on Urban Roads.
This is a Performance Hybrid Bicycle packed with high end components. The suspension lockout along with smooth gears and fast rolling tires make for a comfortable ride amidst traffic on both smooth and rough roads. The Merida Crossway 20D (2021) priced at ₹39,990 (as on 7th December 2021) is ideal Hybrid Bicycle for fitness and long distance rides on both good and bad roads.
