Weight: 15.2 Kgs
Usage: Trail/Fitness
The Marlin Yeti 29 is built using Aluminium Alloy. This frame has a tapered head tube and smooth welded edges to keep the most of the material at places in the frame which is capable of taking in vibrations from the trails. The slanting top tube makes the ride geometry aggressive and comfortable as well.
The SR Suntour XCT front suspension fork comes with a massive 100mm travel which worked really well on the roughest of trails. The manual suspension lock-out helped make the fork rigid and thus ride faster on flatter surfaces.
The Marlin Yeti 29 which I test rode came in a full Gloss Grey with Black and Yellow as the secondary colours and internal cable routing. The gloss finish paint job was of superior quality. The subtle graphics was simple and added a nice aesthetic look to the Bicycle. The wide MTB tires with big treads help the bicycle look rugged.
A performance focused MTB like the Marlin Yeti 29 requires precise gearing. This MTB is equipped with a Shimano Altus 2-Speed front derailleur and Shimano Altus 8-Speed rear derailleur. This Altus groupset is an entry to mid-level MTB derailleur and worked seamlessly during the test ride. The Shimano Altus rapid fire shifters were smooth in shifting with an efficient spring action.
The Marlin Yeti 29 is equipped with Tektro’s M275 Hydraulic Disc brakes. These brakes are the best you can find on a Hardtail MTB with 160mm rotors. These brakes were safe and balanced on even the most slippery and roughest of trails. The Tektro brake levers were easy to engage with just 2 or 3 fingers.
The stock alloy MTB handlebars were wide in length and flat with no raiser. This width made sure the rider has full control and great handling capabilities.
As in the name of this Bicycle, the Marlin Yeti 29 rolls on a pair of Kenda 29” x 2.20” MTB tires. These tires are meant for trails, mainly because of its 29” circumference and the 2.20” width. These rubbers can keep you safe on the trails with maximum traction. The stock trail specific saddle was ergonomic and keeps you comfortable on fast trail rides.
This is a 29 inch hardtail meant for the roughest of trails. With smooth gear shifting and powerful Tektro Hydraulic Disc brakes this Mountain Bike will make you feel confident on the most challenging of trails. The heavily treaded 29 inch tires are capable of handling both wet and dry surfaces and rocky trails. Priced at Rs.37,990 (as on 30th December 2021) the Marlin Yeti 29 is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a performance focused MTB for trail rides.
