Fuji has become a much sought after brand over the years. The Absolute series being one of the most popular. With the growing demand for women specific cycles, Fuji is out with a cycle that caters to the same. The Fuji Absolute 2.1 for women was released in 2016 and here are my thoughts on it.
A well-designed hybrid cycle that boasts performance, designed specifically for women.
The Fuji Absolute 2.1 ST (2016) comes with the custom. A2-SL Aluminum frame, specifically designed for women. The geometry of the frame makes it easy to mount and dismount the bicycle. Though, being a hybrid with a semi-aggressive feel, it has a perfect balance of comfort and performance.
This bike comes with two sizing options S-M and M-L, giving the rider a size range as opposed to a fixed size. I generally use a small sized cycle, the S-M I tried out was on the smaller side.
The Oval concepts saddle that comes on this Fuji Absolute 2.1 is specifically designed for women. While comfortable on a short ride, the ergonomics of the saddle may not be suitable for a longer ride.
Frame Geometry makes mounting and dismounting easy
The Fuji Absolute 2.1 ST for women comes in one colour a teal blue. The design is simple and the colour chosen looks chic. Though plain in appearance, this cycle is sure to make heads turn while on the road.

The Fuji Absolute 2.1 ST is fully equipped with Shimano Atlus front and rear derailleurs. The shifting is powered by Shimano's EF51 Atlus eight speed units. The 24-speed gear system was a joy to use as it provided several gearing options across varied surfaces and inclinations. The gears are incredibly smooth while shifting, leaving no space for complaints. For it's price, the rear derailleur could have been upgraded to the Shimano Acera, which is a popular choice in hybrid bicycles of this price range.
Smooth shifting
The braking system on the Fuji Absolute 2.1 pulls out all stops. The breaks are powerful and very responsive and will work very efficiently on descents and turns. Though tested on a dry surface, the brakes are sure to perform well on wet surfaces too. The only downside is that the rear brake is a chain stay mounted U-brake. It's location makes it susceptible to collect excessive dirt when being ridden. In addition to collecting dirt, the brake could get easily damaged.
The flat handlebar on this cycle ensures comfortable saddle time and eases pressure on the back while riding. I found the riding position extremely comfortable due to the flat handlebar. Though, on a longer ride, there could be an added strain on one's wrists.
Powerful and Responsive Brakes
The 700ã32c Vera City Wide tires add to the smoothness, speed and quality of the ride. They are lightweight and add minimal to no additional weight to the cycle.
The Ride Quality of Fuji's Absolute 2.1 ST is commendable and it's features add to it's great on-road performance. The upright position helps the body hold a finer ergonomic position. The gearing system is a delight for it's possible speed combinations on varied terrain. This bicycle is a sure shot to get you on the road for longer saddle time.
Tires add to the smoothness, speed and quality of the ride
Designed for smooth roads, this bicycle is a must buy given it's features and it's price of Rs. 31,990. It is a great ride and will definitely keep you on the saddle longer thereby, adding to the overall miles you ride. However, if you're riding on bumpy roads, brace yourself for some impact while on the saddle.
