Frog is an Indian bicycle brand. Their range includes MTB and City bicycles for Men, Women and Children. This fairly new entrant to the Indian bicycle market has come out with an extensive range with numerous designs and colours. We got the opportunity to test ride the Frog Barcelona 27.5” and here is what we thought.

A stylish looking hardtail MTB which is comfortable to ride on both urban roads and flat trails.
The Frog Barcelona 27.5” is built around a hardtail Alloy frame. The alloy frame has a conventional frame geometry which was comfortable to ride. This frame was capable of taking in vibrations of the surface on rough trails and urban roads. This lightweight Alloy frame made it easier to accelerate and to ride on inclines.
This hardtail MTB comes with Zoom 389 front suspension fork with an impressive 80mm travel. This travel was smooth in working during the test ride and the mechanical suspension lockout feature was helpful in making the fork rigid for a smoother riding experience on flat surfaces.
This bicycle is built on a lightweight hardtail Alloy frame and comes in a standard 18.5” frame size
The Barcelona 27.5” from Frog that I test rode came with Blue as the primary colour with Maroon and Yellow as the secondary colours for the graphics and text. The matte finish paint job was top notch in quality. The Blue brake and gear cables were a nice touch to make them colour coordinated. The Blue/Red saddle with bold ‘Frog’ and ‘Forca Barca’ text is definitely eye catching. Forca Barca is a popular chant used by the famous football club FC Barcelona. With the same colour scheme as the FC Barcelona jersey this bicycle’s design is sure to be popular amongst football fans.

The Frog Barcelona 27.5” comes equipped with Shimano Tourney TY500 at the front and rear as derailleurs. These are entry-level gearing components in Shimano’s MTB hierarchy and they performed to their limits during the test ride. On rough urban roads and flat trails, these derailleurs were ideal for quick and short gear changes. The EZFire 21-Speed Shimano trigger shifters were easy to use and in easy reach from the handlebar grips.

This Urban MTB’s stopping power is handled by a pair of Zoom Mechanical Disc brakes at the front and rear. These brakes were powerful, safe and balanced on rough and smooth roads. Both interval and jamming of brakes felt in control when used during the test ride.
The Alloy handlebar on this bicycle was both comfortable and wide enough with a raise from the middle to give the rider an open chested riding posture.

The 27.5’’ x 2.20’’ MTB tires on the Frog Barcelona 27.5” were heavily treaded to generate a lot of traction on rough surfaces. The 27.5” circumference made it easy to ride over rough trails and urban roads. The stock saddle was wide and had enough cushioning to keep the rider comfortable on bumpy rides.

This hardtail MTB is built on a lightweight Alloy frame which was comfortable to ride. The front suspension fork has smooth travel with a useful manual suspension lockout which helps make the fork rigid to ride faster on flat surfaces. The FC Barcelona based design made it look aesthetic with a smooth matte finish. The 27.5” MTB tires were heavily treaded and fast rolling. Priced at Rs.18,599 (as on 15th July 2019) the Frog Barcelona 27.5” is an ideal choice for anyone looking to buy a hardtail MTB for riding on both urban roads and flat trails.
