Firefox is an Indian performance bicycle brand with a wide range of bicycles and accessories for the bicycle and the rider. The majority of their bicycles and accessories are urban specific and are built for comfort. We got an opportunity to review the Micro Alloy Floor Pump from Firefox and here’s what we think.
The Bicycle Micro Floor Pump comprises of a durable Alloy body with a 2 Tone Alloy-Plastic composite handle and an extendable rubber hose with a plastic casing. The hose is fitted with a reversible valve mouth that is compatible with both Presta and Schrader valve types. This makes it a universal pump for all types of bicycles.
The 11” length pump is compact in size and appears to be like a hand pump, when in fact it functions almost like a floor pump and can easily pump up to 100 PSI pressure. The handle is shaped like a T and is foldable. The metal clamps on the sides of the pump can also be unfolded to give it more of a floor pump functionality.
The Firefox Micro Floor pump is smartly designed, keeping it physically looking like a hand pump, but in functionality, packing the power of a floor pump. The foldable handle is in a T-shape, and gives good grip when pumping air. The rubber hose that is connected to the pump has a plastic protective casing into which it is retractable when not in use. The head of the hose has to be unscrewed to swap the 2-way valve to make it compatible to either Presta or Schrader valves. The hose tube also has a precision pressure gauge attached to it so that the rider can keep a track the exact tire pressure while pumping. This, according to us, is one of the pump’s best and most useful features.
There is a foldable metal clamp at the bottom that can be opened out to provide a bit of extra support while using it as a floor pump. All these components discretely fold together to form a compact micro pump that can be fixed to the top tube or the down tube of the bicycle with a special clamp provided along with the pump. A special Velcro strap is also attached to the pump to keep it tightly strapped in so that it doesn’t get unclipped and fall off while riding on uneven roads.
Overall Rating
Compact but mighty, the Micro Floor Pump from Firefox is an extremely handy and functional tool for all riders, especially the long distance riders going on self supported rides, and also the everyday cyclist. It is rightly priced at Rs.1,450 (as on 23rd April 2019).
