Element is a popular Taiwanese brand which has now forayed its way into the Indian market. The development and testing protocol followed by this brand guarantees that they can translate the need of the riders into the highest-quality products with the best value. We got the opportunity to test rid the Element Cyber Y8 MTB and here is what we thought.
Weight: 15.4kgsUsage: Trail/Fitness
The Element Cyber Y8 is built on a full Alloy frame. This frame geometry is inspired from race specific MTBs with a slanting top tube and a taller build, giving the Bicycle more ground clearance. The thin seat and chain stays are strong enough to withstand the vibration from the surface and thus making the ride more comfortable.
As a Hardtail MTB, this one comes with a stock front suspension fork with a working travel of 80-90mm and a suspension lock-out which helps make the ride faster on flatter roads.
The Element Cyber Y8 which we test rode came in a full Black colour frame with subtle and minimal graphics and text. The gloss finish paint job was of the highest quality and looked shiny. The colour coded rims and saddle made the Bicycle aesthetic in appearance.
The Element Cyber Y8 comes with a Shimano Tourney 3-Speed at the front and 8-Speed at the rear as derailleurs. Even though Tourney is an entry-level gearing component the shifting was smooth and I did not feel any lag. The 24-Speed gear combination was sufficient for riding on roads, rough trails and gradual climbs.
Braking on the Element Cyber Y8 is taken care of by Logan Hydraulic Disc brakes at both the front and rear. These brakes felt balanced and powerful, especially when you are riding in wet weather and need reliable braking performance when stopping during fast paced trail rides.
The Alloy flat handlebar was wide enough for a comfortable riding posture as well as for optimum control for sharp turns on trails.
The Stock 27.5” x 2.25” MTB tires on the Cyber Y8 are heavily treaded and are supported by Double Walled Alloy rims. The treads on these tires are massive for 27.5” tire standards, making it generate a lot of traction even on wet trails.
The stock foam Saddle from Element was ergonomic in design with the perfect width to keep those sit bones in place.
This MTB with its smooth front suspension fork and powerful Logan Hydraulic Disc brakes make for a perfect Bicycle to start your trail riding experience. The slanting top tube and wide saddle makes this Hardtail MTB comfortable to ride on both urban roads and trails. Priced at Rs.35,990(as on 20th September 2022) the Element Cyber Y8 is an ideal choice for your first Performance MTB.
