Cube Attention 29er (2017) - Review

This hardtail frame is built from Aluminium Lite material, the Cube Attention 29er's frame has a square-profile down tube, which boosts stiffness and the flattened top tube improves standover clearance. In the rear, the bridgeless chainstays provide sufficient tire clearance to prevent you grinding to at in mud. This slanting top tube also makes this bicycle's geometry taller in the front and hence makes the riding comfortable. The RockShox XC3 TK front suspension fork comes with a 1mm travel which worked smoothly during the test ride, and will immensely help in making the trail ride less bumpy. The remote suspension lockout was a very useful feature in making the ride faster on flat trails with the remote making this lockout easy to operate.

This hardtail MTB comes with Shimano's Deore at the front and XT at the rear. These derailleurs are from Shimano's mid to high range performance components. During the test ride these gears shifted smoothly without any lag. The 3x1-Speed drivetrain made sure there is a massive range of gears for quick accelerations and also the steepest of climbs on trails.

The Cube Attention 29er which I test rode came in a full Black frame with Grey and Blue as secondary colours. The matte finish paint job was of great quality with a smooth finish. The Blue shade graphics are futuristic in design and add a great contrast to the Black and Grey dark colours. The internal cable routing for the front and rear derailleurs made the frame look neat and also prolongs the life of the cables.

Shimano's BR-M315 Hydraulic Disc brakes on the Attention 29er was ideal for off-road riding as they offer powerful, reliable and consistent stopping power in all-weather conditions and make it safe to ride fast on unpredictable surfaces.The 68mm stock Cube handlebar was almost fully flat with just a slight raise to give that much needed aggressive yet comfortable posture to keep the bicycle in full control on trails.

The Schwalbe Smart Sam active 29” x 2.25” was heavily treaded with bulky buttons. The dual compound rubber helped ride through trails without the hassle of smaller punctures. The 29” tires rolled fast and could handle the roughest of trails easily. The Cube Active MTB Saddle was ergonomically designed for fast and bumpy trails rides and also has a colour coded design with a grip patch.
